Domain renewals and transfers are critical processes that directly impact your online presence continuity. A missed renewal can result in website downtime, email disruption, and potential loss of a valuable domain name. Transfers between registrars, when handled poorly, can cause service interruptions and administrative headaches. InternetAdresse provides robust tools and processes to ensure both renewals and transfers proceed smoothly.
Domain Renewal Management
Maintaining continuous ownership of your domains requires proactive renewal management. Our platform provides multiple layers of protection against accidental expiration, from advance notifications to automatic renewal options.
Auto-Renewal Protection
Enable auto-renewal on any domain to ensure continuous registration without manual intervention. When enabled, domains renew automatically before expiration using your default payment method. You will receive notification when auto-renewal processes successfully, maintaining complete visibility while eliminating the risk of expiration.
Auto-renewal can be configured globally across your entire portfolio or for individual domains. Many customers enable auto-renewal by default, then disable it only for domains they intentionally want to expire. This approach provides maximum protection for critical assets while maintaining control over domains you no longer need.
Renewal Notifications
Even with auto-renewal enabled, staying informed about upcoming expirations is important for budget planning and portfolio review. We send renewal reminder emails at 90, 60, 30, 14, and 7 days before expiration. Dashboard alerts highlight domains approaching renewal, ensuring visibility whether you check email or log into your account.
Grace Period Protection
If a domain does expire, registries typically provide a grace period during which renewal is still possible at standard rates. Grace period lengths vary by TLD but commonly range from 0-45 days. During this period, DNS may stop functioning for the domain, but ownership can still be recovered through normal renewal.
After the grace period, domains enter redemption periods where recovery is possible but at significantly higher fees. Eventually, domains are released for public registration. Our notification system tracks these phases and alerts you to increasingly urgent action requirements.
Domain Transfers
Transferring domains between registrars allows you to consolidate your portfolio with a preferred provider. Whether you are bringing domains to InternetAdresse from another registrar or need to understand how transfers work, our process is designed for transparency and minimal disruption.
Transferring Domains to InternetAdresse
Incoming transfers follow a standardized process governed by ICANN policies. To transfer a domain to InternetAdresse, you will need to obtain the authorization code (also called EPP code or transfer key) from your current registrar. Unlock the domain for transfer if it is currently locked, then initiate the transfer through our platform.
Most transfers complete within 5-7 days, though the exact timeline depends on your current registrar and the specific TLD. Some registrars and TLDs support faster transfers. During the transfer process, your domain continues functioning normally—DNS settings are preserved throughout.
Transfer Requirements
ICANN policies require domains to be registered for at least 60 days before they can be transferred. Similarly, domains cannot be transferred within 60 days of a previous transfer. The registrant email address must be valid and accessible to approve transfer requests for many TLDs.
Domains must be unlocked before transfer can proceed. If registrar lock is enabled, you will need to disable it at your current registrar. Premium or promotional pricing at your current registrar does not affect transfer eligibility, though transfer fees are based on standard rates.
Bulk Transfers
Transferring large numbers of domains is streamlined through our bulk management tools. Upload a spreadsheet of domains with their authorization codes, and our system processes transfers in parallel while tracking status for each domain. This approach dramatically reduces the administrative burden of consolidating domain portfolios.
Outgoing Transfers
We believe your domains belong to you, and we never make it difficult to transfer domains away from InternetAdresse. Obtaining authorization codes is self-service through your dashboard. Unlock domains with a single click. We do not impose artificial lock-in periods beyond ICANN-mandated minimums.
This commitment to customer freedom reflects our confidence that you will stay with InternetAdresse because of our service quality, not because leaving is difficult. Many customers who transfer domains away for specific reasons later return when they experience alternative registrars.
